Oscars 2014 Nominations: 10 Things We Learned About This Year's Picks

9. Every Actor Should Work With David O. Russell

Getting your principal actors nominated in all four acting categories in one Oscar year is impressive, but securing places in the Golden Four two years in a row is an almost superhuman feat. David O. Russell, having confirmed his comeback with The Fighter (one Best Supporting Actress win, another win for Best Supporting Actor) and Silver Linings Playbook (nominations for Best Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, one win for Best Actress), has only gone and done it again in 2014. For comedic con wig-off American Hustle, Christian Bale finds himself up for Best Actor, while Amy Adams is nominated for Best Actress, Bradley Cooper is nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Jennifer Lawrence is in for Best Supporting Actress. Not since 1981's Reds had anyone managed to secure a piece from each acting Oscar nom pie, and David O. Russell's just done it twice in two years. Any thespian currently looking to add some gold to their mantelpiece should be giving Russell a call.
