Oscars 2017 Nominations: 15 Shocks & Snubs
4. Snub: Your Name (Best Animated Feature)
The animated film field was even more fiercely contested than usual this year, with Disney releasing two movies in Moana and Zootopia, Pixar throwing in their hat with Finding Dory, Netflix's The Little Prince trying to gain traction, and a ton of art-house and lower-key animated hits such as Kubo and the Two Strings, My Life as a Zucchini and The Red Turtle vying for nods.
It's a real shocker that the Japanese animated mega-hit Your Name missed out on a nomination, because it's grossed an insane $331.6 million to date (making it the highest-grossing anime of all time), has scored ridiculously strong reviews, and anime has performed fairly well in this category in the past.
It's hard to decide on what it could replace (probably Moana as it's basically just Disney competing against themselves otherwise), but it definitely belongs in the field somewhere.
