9. Best Documentary Feature

Oscar Nominations
Netflix

The shortlist has already ruled out a couple of notable contenders, including Leonardo Di Caprio's Before The Flood. There's still a lot of competition left, including Alex Gibney's Zero Days, which looks at Stuxnet virus, and Sundance hits Life, Animated - about an autistic child who grows up on Disney movies - and Weiner, about Anthony Weiner's campaign to be Mayor of New York City.

While it's still quite open, there's a good chance it'll really come down to two: 13th, Ava DuVernay's examination of how African-Americans have been treated post-slavery, and O.J.: Made in America, a study of race and celebrity through the life, career, and trials of O.J. Simpson.

Likely Nominees:

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
