Oscars 2017: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)

1. Best Motion Picture Of The Year

Oscars Casey Affleck Denzel Washington
Summit Entertainment

Nominees: Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester By the Sea, Moonlight

Who Should Win

La La Land.

Yeah, big surprise I've plumped for this. Although most of the nominees are great - Arrival, Moonlight, and Manchester By The Sea in particular - none have quite had that instant fall-in-love magic of La La Land. As already made clear, it ticks every box, resulting in a modern musical classic that'll make your heart both sing and break.

Who Will Win

La La Land.

The battle, if it can be called that, is between La La Land and Moonlight, with Barry Jenkins' movie the only one seems to have a chance of derailing Chazelle's. But those 14 nominations count for something. Both All About Eve and Titanic, the only other films to get that many noms, won this award, and it's very difficult to see La La Land not being the big winner here.
