Oscars 2018: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)

Nominees: Dear Basketball, Garden Party, Lou, Negative Space, Revolting Rhymes

Who Should Win

Lou

It's not Pixar's greatest short, but Lou - about a creature that lives in a schoolyard's lost and found box and is made up of various forgotten items - still has the studio's familiar themes about childhood all over it. There's the kind of sweetness you'd expect, a well-polished animation style, and a strong little story about bullying contained within its 6-minute runtime.

Who Will Win

Dear Basketball

For once it looks like a Pixar effort won't come out on top, with Dear Basketball set to make Kobe Bryant one of the most surprising Oscar winners in history. It took home the Annie Award for Animated Short, and the conceit - which is Bryant's farewell to the game he excelled at and loved - will resonate with those who feel the same way about the movie business.
