Oscars 2019: 10 Reasons Why A Star Is Born Is Definitely Not Best Film

1. Stiff Competition

Perhaps in a different year, A Star Is Born could very well earn the industry's highest honor. But for outstanding achievement in the category of Best Picture, the winner is...most likely going to be one of these: Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody, Vice, The Favourite, If Beale Street Could Talk, Blackkklansman, Roma, etc.

The Academy's recent expansion to 8 titles (or is it 80?) also doesn't bode well for Team Cooper/Gaga. The cast and crew, however, are expected to pick up their fair share of gold statues for categories such as Best Original Song ("Shallow"), Best Musical Score, and Best Sound.

This year's big event takes place on 24 February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where winners will be announced and more importantly, we'll all learn who's wearing what by which famous designer that nobody can afford but movie stars. Hooray!

Until then, pace yourself for a nonstop glut of other lesser but equally pretentious award shows in a shameless display of self-congratulatory excess.
