Oscars 2014: 10 Hopeful Best Picture Contenders

7. American Hustle

Chance: Very Likely Another "true story" entry, in a year that will probably be the most flooded with true stories that it's not even funny. Which is interesting, because this movie actually looks rather funny, on top of the serious bits that David O. Russell loves to mix into all of his films. It also helps that Russell has merged his award nominated/winning casts of The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook into one gigantic murderer's row of star power that will probably grab a lot of acting nods, with a couple possible wins. Its chances for actually winning Best Picture aren't that good though, because there's another certain nomination hopeful that covers similar ground, and in a more modern manner. Nevertheless, this is as easy of a nomination as Leonardo DiCaprio was for Django Unchained (However, this nomination's practicality outweighs the actual chances DiCaprio had of winning that same year).
