Oscars: 4 Ways To Win An Academy Award

Option 2: Do a Little Comedy

sandra bullock oscar This may seem a strange route, yes, but bear with me here. Doing just a little bit of comedy is excellent bait for an Oscar. Even if the comedy isn't very good. Let's note the track record, shall we? In 2009 Sandra Bullock appeared in three films. The horrible All About Steve, tolerable The Proposal, and the clearly Oscar bait The Blind Side. What's notable about this is the fact that the first two of those films were comedies. Not very good ones either. In fact, for her role in All About Steve, Sandra Bullock won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress. What happened the very next day? She won the Academy Award For Best Actress for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side, beating out actresses such as Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep. Another thing that helped? She was playing a real person. Take notes, aspiring actors. But probably the best way to use this technique is: Guest host Saturday Night Live. Don't believe me? Well then, we'll use this past year as an example. How many men nominated for Best Supporting Actor this year also hosted SNL? One, Christoph Waltz. Who won the award? Christoph Waltz. How many women nominated for Best Supporting Actress this year also hosted SNL? One, Anne Hathaway. Who won the award? Anne Hathaway. How many women nominated for Best Actress this year also hosted SNL? One, Jennifer Lawrence. Who won the award? Oh look, Jennifer Lawrence.
Of course, none of the men nominated for Best Actor hosted because come on, no one beats Daniel Day-Lewis. Don't even bother trying it, fool. See page two for two more fail-proof options....
