9. The Incredibles

In many ways, Brad Bird's The Incredibles was years ahead of its time, crafting a thrilling superhero adventure with a refreshing family core long before the MCU was born and cornered the market.

Following the explosive and wonderfully funny exploits of the dysfunctional Parr family, who all have super powers but have been forced into retirement by a law prohibiting the existence of vigilantism, The Incredibles is both surprisingly action-packed and twisting.

Occasionally, it sports a dark tone that doesn't 100% mesh with the otherwise exciting, explosive feel of the movie, but this very small gripe is nothing to write home about. The Incredibles is a perfect slice of family fun, and the only real issue that can be taken with it is that it teased a sequel that took 14 years to come.
