Oscars: Ranking Every Best Animated Feature Film
8. Inside Out
Pixar's single most heartbreaking movie, Inside Out won Pete Docter his second Oscar, and told a story about childhood in such a powerful way that it's really tough to shake once the credits have stopped rolling.
The film follows 11-year-old Riley as she tries to fit into her new home but is soon unable to cope with her new living situation. Meanwhile, her personified emotions Joy and Sadness race to help her in her time of need. What follows is an imaginative adventure and a crushingly relatable tale about family, moving on, and growing up.
A vital piece of cinema that is guaranteed to move young and old alike, Inside Out is a sad but ultimately heartwarming journey that hits every note it's aiming for, and though it wasn't quite as strong as fellow nominee Anomalisa, its victory is far from a tragedy.
