Oscars: Ranking Every Best Animated Feature Film
6. Ratatouille
The closest Pixar has ever come to making an arthouse movie, Ratatouille follows a rat who dreams of becoming a chef, and after ending up in Paris helps a hapless cook find his place in a prestigious restaurant. What follows is a bizarre, uplifting and hilarious tale of food and friendship that never misses a beat.
Thanks in equal measure to its stylish animation, terrific cast - which includes Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm and Will Arnett - Ratatouille serves as a funny and sweet reminder of just how exciting, thoughtful and imaginative Pixar can be.
In a slow year, it only had to beat Surf's Up and Persepolis to the Oscar, but with its elegant score, exquistite visuals and touching messages, it's honestly hard to think of a film that could have beaten it. It's really that good, and it's aged like fine wine.
