Pierce Brosnan: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
4. Chiron - Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief (2010)
While the thriller genre has been his staple diet, stretching back to The Long Good Friday, Brosnan has dabbled in many other genres throughout his career. 17 years after Robin Williams pelted him with limes and gave him the Heimlich manouevre, Brosnan reunited with Chris Columbus for Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Suffice to say, his first outing in the fantasy genre left a lot to be desired. Based loosely on the book by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson follows its eponymous teenager (Logan Lerman), who discovers that he is a demigod, the offspring of a human and the Greek god Poseidon. He is taken to Camp Half-Blood where he meets other demigods, and is charged with tracking down a missing lightning bolt, seemingly stolen from the Gods. If it not returned to Mount Olympus before the Summer Solstice, a great war will start. In case that plot summary didn't convey it, Percy Jackson is a deeply derivative work. Its release was positioned between the sixth and seventh Harry Potter films, and its plot and characters mirror J. K. Rowling's to almost eerie degrees. Brosnan's character mainly exists to explain the mythology to Percy, but his delivery lacks enthusiasm and he seems lost in the dodgy CG landscape. In short he makes the very least of what is already a duff part, ensuring that this franchise barely got to a second (albeit better) instalment.
