Predicting 10 Biggest Box Office Movie Bombs Of 2016

2. Warcraft

Another entry on the list, another video game movie. It seems that the big-screen adaptation of Blizzard's incredibly popular Warcraft series has been in development forever. After first being announced in 2006, Sam Raimi spent three years developing the project before Duncan Jones officially signed on to direct in January 2013. Even though the source material boasts millions of paid subscribers and an incredibly passionate fanbase, Jones' fantasy blockbuster could prove to be a tough sell to casual audiences. Both big-budget fantasy and video game movies tend to have a patchy track record at the box office, and unfortunately Warcraft falls into both of these categories. With a budget rumored to be around the $200m mark, Jones' first foray into blockbuster territory is anything but a sure thing. Although he has proven himself to be one of the most talented young filmmakers in the industry, 'from the director of Moon and Source Code' simply isn't enough to market the movie to those skeptical of the first trailer. Speaking of the first trailer; while the footage boasts some sweeping landscapes, incredibly detailed production design and impressive CGI creatures, the fairly generic dialogue and story points are unlikely to appeal to those who aren't big fans of the genre. It doesn't help matters that Warcraft's June 10 release date sees the potential franchise-starter surrounded by much more established brands, coming shortly after X-Men: Apocalypse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and just before Finding Dory and Independence Day: Resurgence. If Warcraft fails to score a decent opening weekend, then its chances of commercial success are already over.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
