Godzilla: King of the Monsters should be one of the more intriguing box office contenders of 2019, releasing just a week after Aladdin and a week before both Dark Phoenix and The Secret Life of Pets 2.

But if Gareth Edwards' more subtle predecessor was capable of $529.1 million, this more action-packed-looking blockbuster sequel should be able to scale that figure with ease.

With terrific marketing to date, high international appeal, a killer cast - including Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown - and plenty of hype about the impending Godzilla vs. Kong movie, this could be the perfect storm for a box office knockout.

Plus, with Dark Phoenix all-but-guaranteed to brutally under-perform, Godzilla doesn't really have any direct competition vying for the same teenage dollars.
