Predicting The Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2026's Biggest Movies

4. Dune: Part Three (85%)

Dune: Part Two
Warner Bros.

Denis Villeneuve's first Dune film was warmly embraced by critics but still had a significant share of detractors who found it cold, clinical, and confusing - hence the good-but-not-great 83% score.

Dune: Part Two, however, was received more positively, settling at a 92% rating, most feeling that Villeneuve concluded his ambitious adaptation of Frank Herbert's sci-fi opus stronger than he started it.

While that seemingly might tee Villeneuve up for easy success with Dune: Part Three, it's worth knowing that he and co-writer Jon Spaihts are also tackling considerably more challenging material this time around.

Herbert's second Dune novel, Dune Messiah, is a much stranger and trickier story than the first, and one which will be far more difficult for Villeneuve to adapt in a purely faithful way.

But the success of Part Two shows that critics and audiences alike are totally onboard with this madcap vision, and while Part Three's stranger narrative will probably struggle to fully recapture the same critical glory, there's a good chance it lands between the first two.
