If the assessment of "big films first, new films second" is correct, Aquaman is the perfect fit for July 27, 2018. He'll be coming hot off the broody heels of the next solo Batman movie, which is guaranteed to make a killing at the box office, and will have already been in two DC films: Batman V Superman and Justice League. Warner Bros. has already hired two screenwriters to pen two different Aquaman drafts, meaning that they're serious about giving the Atlantean king his own solo adventure. Placing Aquaman in 2018 gives screenwriters Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad plenty of time to perfect their versions of the script, and for the studio to pick which one is best before rewriting and fine-tuning it. There hasn't been any word on any Wonder Woman scripts in the works right now, so perhaps she and Aquaman could switch release dates, depending on who the studio decides to bring to the big screen first.
