Predicting DC's 9 Upcoming Superhero Movies Up To 2020

4. Man Of Steel 2 - April 5, 2019

Fans have been quick to point out that Superman's franchise was hijacked in favour of Warner Bros.' bigger DCCU plans. Batman V Superman is technically a Man of Steel sequel, but fans of the Last Son of Krypton still want to see another solo Superman adventure. That isn't going to happen before Justice League, and if our predictions hold true, it may not even happen until 2019, a good six years after Man of Steel hit theatres. There are a few reasons why we think Man of Steel 2 won't arrive until 2019. First and foremost, we know for a fact that it won't hit theatres before Justice League, which is expected to arrive in 2017. As Ben Affleck will probably want a solo Batman film sooner rather than later, this in turn will probably be slated for early 2018. Man Of Steel 2 hitting theatres in April of 2019 places it in the prime slot of being the first big superhero film of the year, and allows whatever film that hits later that June to build off of its momentum. Man Of Steel may have been a bit controversial, but it still cemented Superman in the minds of a new generation, meaning it's a big enough property to hit theatres before the other year's big DC film. Plus, Man of Steel 2 will be (at least) the fourth appearance of the titular Kryptonian in the DCCU. Henry Cavill is an up-and-coming star with other projects, so he may want to take a bit of a super-break before jumping back into Kal-El's blue tights and red cape.
