Predicting Summer 2016's Highest Grossing Movies

3. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Box Office Prediction: $1.1 billion Why It'll Be A Hit: Because it's freaking Batman taking on Superman, OK? Plus, tracking for the movie so far estimates it could gross up to $350 million worldwide in its opening weekend, which would be more than half of what Man of Steel made in its entire box office run. It's safe to say that if a solo Superman movie can gross $668 million, throwing Batman into the mix, and having the pair brawl no less, has the easy makings of a billion-plus final tally (considering that Nolan's Dark Knight saga alone topped out with The Dark Knight Rises' $1.08 billion). Why It Could Disappoint: As you're probably aware, reviews have been heavily mixed, and this could cause the film to under-perform, as Warner Bros. will doubtless be expecting to effortlessly cross the billion-dollar mark with such an irresistible premise. Though many assert the film to be "critic-proof", we won't know for sure until the coming days and weeks. Anything less than $1 billion would be a let down, and if it doesn't even cross $800 million, Warner Bros. will reportedly lose money on the project, which could put the future Justice League movies in doubt.
