9. Alice Through The Looking Glass
Box Office Prediction: $590 million Why It'll Be A Hit: 2010's Alice in Wonderland grossed a stonking $1.025 billion despite, well, not being especially good, so regardless of whether this follow-up actually works or not, it's essentially a license to print money for Disney. There's almost zero chance of the effects-driven, all-star fantasy pulling in less than half of what the original made. Why It Could Disappoint: Some may argue that too much time has passed since the first film, and it certainly doesn't help that the movie has been horribly marketed with just two months until release, at which point it comes out in the shadow of Captain America: Civil War. Then there's the fact it's released on the same day as X-Men: Apocalypse, and the following month sees Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, The Conjuring 2, Now You See Me 2, Warcraft, Central Intelligence, Finding Dory and Independence Day: Resurgence all hitting screens. And finally, we can't discount the box office appeal of Tim Burton, who didn't return to direct this sequel, with Disney instead handing the reins to The Muppets' James Bobin.
