Predicting The 10 Highest Box Office Of 2015's Remaining Movies
8. The Hateful Eight - $375m
Any new movie from Quentin Tarantino is a must-see event, with the critically-acclaimed writer/director riding higher than ever thanks to the success of his last two features. As well as landing Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained are also the two highest-grossing movies of Tarantino's career.
Although there has no doubt been numerous changes to the script that was leaked online in early 2014, The Hateful Eight nonetheless promises to be a talkier affair than the action-packed likes of Kill Bill, Basterds and Django. Still, the Tarantino name is more than enough to sell the project to audiences, not to mention an immensely talented cast that includes Samuel L Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth and Bruce Dern.
Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained both opened to at least $30m and went on to earn well over $100m at the domestic box office, while over 60% of the movie's worldwide total came from international markets, and The Hateful Eight will follow a similar trajectory. However, the project is a much tougher sell to casual audiences than Tarantino's previous few efforts, but the name value alone should see the movie's box office total wind up somewhere in the middle of the director's last two features.
