Predicting The 10 Highest Box Office Of 2015's Remaining Movies
4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 - $900m
In the wake of the Harry Potter phenomenon, seemingly every young adult literary series was adapted for the big screen. Whereas the vast majority of these potential franchise-starters failed at the first attempt, The Hunger Games did not. One of the 20 highest-grossing franchises in history after just three movies, November's concluding chapter promises to deliver the series' biggest box office total yet.
The combination of an army of loyal fans, an interesting central concept, solid reviews, some strong action and a top-notch ensemble cast led by one of Hollywood's most popular stars has seen The Hunger Games franchise break numerous box office records. Such is the success of the series, Mockingjay - Part 1's worldwide gross of $752.1m was actually viewed by some as a disappointment.
However, history has proven that part two of the final installment in a literary franchise always posts the highest box office numbers, as Harry Potter and Twilight have proven in the past. Mockingjay - Part 2 will definitely eclipse Catching Fire's $864.6m, but the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens just a few weeks later could hurt the movie's chances of getting close to the billion dollar mark.
