Predicting The 9 Star Wars Movies Currently In The Works

2. A Return To The Prequels

The prequels will always be Star Wars' most divisive entries, but they're not wanting in terms of fans. Dozens of Star Wars viewers swear by the series' aesthetic, citing its action and even some performances as key reasons to reappraise the films everyone seemed to write off in the late 2000s.

Slowly but surely, we've also seen certain elements from the prequels worm their way into Disney's plans. EA's much maligned Battlefront sequel is set to include Clone Wars content aplenty this year, and with both Rebels and Solo: A Star Wars Story having featured Darth Maul, it's clear that some ideas are worth keeping around.

While we can expect to see Maul appear in a potential Solo or spin-off, there are plenty of other avenues Disney could look to explore with that particular area of Star Wars lore. Christie Golden's Dark Disciple novel stands out as a clear source of inspiration for any film looking to address The Clone Wars in particular, and though it would appear an unlikely move for Disney to take, the challenge of turning a once divisive setting into a universally adored one.
