Predicted Critical Consensus: "Though decidedly better than you might expect, The Emoji Movie nevertheless lacks the smarts to be a truly subversive animated comedy for kids and adults alike."

Expect The Emoji Movie to be this year's The Angry Birds Movie, in that it'll be better than your instincts tell you, but it'll also lack the self-aware edge that made, say, The Lego Movie more than just a toy commercial.

Patrick Stewart's sure to get at least a few laughs as the poop emoji and the visuals should be decent, but it's hard to expect much more than a middle-of-the-road animation you won't much remember by year's end.
