Predicted Critical Consensus: "Though not quite among the better Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming nevertheless represents a warm welcome to the web-slinger in the MCU, thanks largely to Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr.'s entertaining performances."

Though the Vulture narrative seems like pure, formulaic superhero fare, there's one major reason this new Spider-Man movie is going to score well with critics: the banter between Peter Parker and Tony Stark.

It's a smart move by Marvel Studios to make this a team-up movie, and the fact that the tone is reportedly inspired by John Hughes' high-school films should help distinguish it from prior Spidey fare.

Don't expect one of the MCU's better offerings, but middle-of-the-pack is honestly just fine.
