Ranking 10 Highest-Grossing Movie Franchises - From Worst To Best
8. The Fast & The Furious
Rank: 7th Total Worldwide Box Office: $3,894,912,149 No. Of Films: 7 The Fast & The Furious: there is arguably no franchise in existence made up of such a bizarre combination of really good movies and really, really bad ones. After all, the Fast & Furious franchise started life as a series of loathsome, macho car movies - the kind of pictures destined and marketed towards idiots whose idea of a good time consists of revving engines and girls in bikinis. The franchise was pretty much considered to be the sort of crap that made even the bottom of the barrel look good. And then something happened in 2011 that changed everything. Out of nowhere (and against the odds) came Fast Five - a balls to the wall action tour-de-force that rebranded the sagging franchise as a series of heist movies, free from the annoying machoism and fixation on gangster car culture that made the first four flicks so unbearable. Now the franchise has entered the realms of "beloved by all," which has to be one of the most unexpected twists in cinematic history (not to mention Furious 7's standing as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time). And though the movies are undeniably big and stupid, they are at least aware of the fact. Kind of impossible to hate, to be totally honest.
