Ranking 10 Highest-Grossing Movie Franchises - From Worst To Best
7. Spider-Man
Rank: 6th Total Worldwide Box Office: $3,963,259,504 No. Of Films: 5 The Spider-Man franchise, on the whole, has kind of been all over the place, hasn't it? On one hand, you've got Sam Raimi's original trilogy, which consists of one good movie (Spider-Man), one near-masterpiece (Spider-Man 2) and then what is arguably the most questionable comic book film ever committed to the medium (Spider-Man 3). Despite the huge financial success of Raimi's movies, Sony made the decision to reboot the franchise after the travesty that was Spider-Man 3 (how was it possible to recover from all that dancing and that emo fringe?). As a result, 2011 gave us The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield, which was... well, it was just more of the same, really: nothing special. And then the less said about the naff Amazing Spider-Man 2 the better, right? Despite his standing as arguably the most popular superhero ever, then, Hollywood has a turbulent relationship with Spidey. Nobody really seems to know what, exactly, makes for a good Spider-Man picture, which means that the results are often a bit all over the place. Hopefully the new MCU incarnation of the character can do Peter Parker justice.
