Ranking 10 Highest-Grossing Movie Franchises - From Worst To Best
3. James Bond
Rank: 3rd Total Worldwide Box Office: $6,240,001,036 No. Of Films: 26 The James Bond franchise is essentially a huge, lumbering mess - but what an incredibly entertaining, hilarious and iconic mess it is! That's to say, the franchise now consists of a whopping 26 motion pictures; a testament to its popularity all over the world. Even now, more than 50 years after the release of the first movie, fans of the franchise are piling into theatres around the world to see the next installment (and as a result, Spectre is on its way to making lots of money). It's easy to deride the franchise, of course, because there have been lots of terrible and forgettable movies along the way. But hey, with 26 movies, that was always going to happen (and even the bad James Bond flicks usually have something to offer, be it an awesome title song or a memorable action scene). Truth is, James Bond - as a franchise - outright refuses to die. It has amounted a huge, sprawling legacy, managed to entirely reboot itself successfully to account for shifting audience tastes, and arguably made what is its greatest film ever with its 25th entry (that's you, Skyfall; how brilliant you were). Good films, bad films - with this franchise, it doesn't really matter; audiences should just be thankful for all the fun times Bond has given us.
