We may have only got a brief glimpse of him in The Last Jedi’s official teaser trailer in which the Stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter appears to be in some sort of bacta tank-like healing chamber, but fear not Finn fans: by all accounts John Boyega will have a more significant role than he did in The Force Awakens.

From his appearance in the trailer, we can assume he’s on the road to recovery from the lightsabre injuries inflicted by Kylo Ren in the last episode and Boyega himself has confirmed that Finn will be a “big deal” amongst his fellow Resistance fighters.

The actor has also stated that The Last Jedi is much darker in tone than its predecessor and that Finn will face the moral dilemma of whether to stay with the Resistance of flee from the First Order. He’ll also be part of a significant storyline alongside franchise newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
