Firm details about the role Academy Award-winning actor Benicio del Toro will play in The Last Jedi are still pretty scarce but thanks to a recent article and photo shoot in Vanity Fair, we’re a now a little wiser (but still mostly in the dark).

There have been conflicting reports as to whether del Toro will play a villain or not, but it’s been confirmed he’s a “shady character” whose allegiance isn’t clear and his costume – all black topped off with a grimy, worn-looking trench coat – suggest he could be either a rebel or a traitor in the making.

We don’t even know for sure what del Toro’s character is called yet, but we do know he’s known as ‘DJ’ on set and that director Rian Johnson has said there’s a reason he’s been nicknamed this – perhaps he’s some kind of space disc jockey for a rebel pirate radio station?

Del Toro isn’t the only new face we’ll be seeing either: Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran have also been confirmed as new cast members.
