Ranking 10 Most Exciting Upcoming Star Wars Performances
2. Mark Hamill – Luke Skywalker
After a severe shortage of all things Luke Skywalker-shaped in The
Force Awakens save for a few dialogue-less seconds at the very end of the film,
we can thankfully look forward to seeing a lot more from Leia’s twin brother in
The Last Jedi.
If the official teaser trailer released in April is anything to go by, Luke will be playing a much bigger part in the second instalment of the sequel trilogy and we’ll even hear him speak this time, including the particularly portentous line “It’s time for the Jedi to end” which obviously is going to have some major ramifications for Luke, Rey and the wider Star Wars universe.
Hopefully, we’ll also get some much-needed answers to questions like: Why has Luke been living in self-imposed exile on Anch-To? Is he Rey’s mentor? Or is he much, much more to her – like her biological father perhaps?
Moreover, it’ll be great to see Hamill properly reprise the role – it’s been over thirty years since we last saw everybody’s favourite Jedi for crying out loud and that brief glimpse at the end of The Force Awakens was a cruel tease.
