Ranking April 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

4. Love, Simon

Box Office: Strong word-of-mouth and a celebrity-endorsed marketing campaign have no doubt helped the gay-themed teen romance to triple its $17 million budget.

Verdict: While it might be a little too indebted to the typical high school cliches you associate with coming-of-age dramedies such as this, Love, Simon's unique perspective - following a young gay man as he comes to terms with who he is - ensures there's plenty to be charmed by here.

Nick Robinson gives a stellar performance in the title role, accompanied by a cracking ensemble cast, slick direction and an ultimately sweet romance that mostly avoids the self-conscious cynicism millennial-themed movies are often associated with.

As the first major studio movie to focus on gay romance, it's hopefully the first of many.
