Ranking December 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

11. Youth

RottenTomatoes Score: 74% (7.1) Box Office: Even with a fairly low $13 million budget, Youth's limited release has placed a ceiling on its returns, pulling in just half of its budget so far, despite opening in most major European markets already. The handful of countries where it still awaits release (including the UK) may add a few million to the cume, but it's sadly not a success. Still, it'll likely fare much better on the home video market. Verdict: Writer-director Paola Sorrentino's thoroughly entertaining drama about aging, mortality, the double-edged sword of celebrity and so much more finds Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel in top-tier form, each giving one of their best late-period performances. Smartly blending dark humour with peculiar symbolism and honest musings on the eventuality of human existence, Youth may not be the most feel-good film of the year, but it offers plenty of intellectual nourishment for those prepared to indulge Sorrentino's fancies.
