Ranking Every Animated Batman Film From Worst To Best

1. Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm

Of all the animated Batman features that have come out over the last two decades, none have quite been able to dethrone the very first one, Mask of the Phantasm, which first hit theatres on Christmas day back in 1993.

An offshoot of Batman: The Animated Series, Mask of the Phantasm tells what could easily be considered the single best Batman story ever told, animated or otherwise. It not only introduces a brand-new antagonist, but also delves deep into the tortured psyche of Bruce Wayne and the obligation he feels to be the Batman.

This is also another movie that not only captures that middle ground between being good for both kids and adults, but does so better than any film that came after it. The main narrative consists a genuinely compelling noir-mystery story, in addition to delving deep into the tortured psyche of Bruce Wayne and just how much his obligation to being the Batman controls his life.

Moreover, the Gothic atmosphere and animation are absolutely perfect and the iconic voice due of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are absolutely brilliant in their portrayals of Batman and the Joker, respectively.

This is a film that was not given nearly enough credit nor appreciated by enough people in its time. However, since then, it has rightly gone on to be considered one of the single most riveting Batman experiences ever put to film.
