Ranking Every DC Comic Book Movie From Worst To Best

13. Man Of Steel

DC Movies
Warner Bros. Pictures

Putting aside the concerns about killing Zod and the silliness of Pa Kent's death, Man Of Steel is actually pretty under-appreciated as a Superman film. Zack Snyder may have had an agenda to reclaim the superhero from his traditional image, and the script might be openly dumb in places, but it works as a spectacle and as a character arc.

It's just a shame that Superman is such a po-faced miserabilist for most of the film, and that the aesthetic filter will make it horribly dated in a matter of years.

To its credit, it offers a different take on General Zod, which is successful; Henry Cavill proves himself both a good Clark Kent and a good Superman, despite the material he's lumbered with; and there is actually a heart beneath the surface that works far better than in Batman v Superman.

Despite the flaws, a sequel taken out of Snyder's hands would be entirely welcome.
