Ranking Every Halloween Film From Worst To Best

3. Halloween (2018)

Halloween Kills
Universal Pictures

The latest - and not too far from greatest - chapter in the saga of Michael Myers is easily one of the best. Simultaneously modern and old-school, this film not only breathed new life into the dying series but gave it a full-on lung-transplant and replaced its blood with pure adrenaline.

Trimming the fat of numerous ill-conceived sequels, Halloween 2018 made its mission statement clear from the very first trailer - Michael Myers is back and he's ready to scare you silly.

Whilst the film may not have entirely succeeded in that department, it more than delivered the goods in every other aspect. Beautifully shot, incredibly well-acted, and sporting one of the best scores in modern horror, this film more than lived up to the original in terms of filmmaking prowess.

It does lose some points for having a relatively flimsy script, but such issues can be forgiven when everything else on display is of such high quality. It sounds strange to refer to a horror film as 'comfortable' but that's exactly what Halloween 2018 is, a big fuzzy hug in the shape of a down-and-dirty slasher flick.

We're anxiously awaiting its sequel - the splendidly titled Halloween Kills.
