Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best
27. Wild At Heart (1990)
David Lynch and Nicolas Cage - 'nuff said.
Wild At Heart remains one of the most controversial Palme d'Or winners in the history of the Cannes Film Festival, a characteristically weird effort from Lynch, if perhaps one that lacks the consistent un-clarity of his finer works.
Still, it's a gorgeous, intoxicating tall drink of a movie, boasting a cast stacked with Lynch regulars, including Laura Dern, Diane Ladd, Willem Dafoe, Harry Dean Stanton, and Isabella Rossellini.
Some may call it more style than substance, but this is absolutely a case where the style is the substance.
26. Rumble Fish (1983)
Cage's first team-up with Francis Ford Coppola saw him play the supporting role of Rusty James' (Matt Dillon) pal Smokey.
While hardly a showy performance from the young actor, he's nevertheless a vital part of a killer ensemble, also including Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane, Chris Penn, Laurence Fishburne, and Tom Waits.
Though not the most unique of premises, and lacking the epic sweep of Coppola's bigger, better movies, it is nevertheless a sharply observed, affecting character study of youthful toil.
