Ranking Every Quentin Tarantino Movie Soundtrack Worst To Best

5. The Hateful Eight

Unlike Tarantino’s other period movies (Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained), the soundtrack for his 2015 western mystery, The Hateful Eight is actually quite brilliant.

After admiring and using his tracks for eight movies, the iconic composer, Ennio Morricone finally composed one of Tarantino’s soundtracks, and ultimately won his very overdue Oscar for it. And, Morricone composes some really wonderful tracks, including “L’ultima diligenza di Red Rock”, the absolutely brilliant opening track.

Other than that, the soundtrack has a very varied selection of songs, including a brilliantly random use of Roy Orbison’s “There Won’t Be Many Coming Home”, and some of other pieces by Morricone, including tracks from The Thing and Exorcist II.

At the moment, this remains Tarantino’s only Oscar-winning soundtrack, and it’s definitely deserved it. Even if it’s just for Jennifer Jason Leigh’s terrific rendition of “Jim Jones at Botany Bay”.
