Ranking Every Tobe Hooper Film From Worst To Best
9. The Mangler
Stephen King is known for some goofy, off-the-wall creations, but the concept of a haunted laundry press takes the biscuit even by his standards, and in Tobe Hooper he found the perfect director to bring The Mangler to cinema.
The Texas Chainsaw creator's firm grasp of B-movie traditions served him well here, and the result was a silly but fun offering that satisfied the gore hounds.
Few filmmakers would dare take on a project based on a demonically-possessed laundry folding machine with homicidal tendencies, but Hooper did, and actually made it watchable, providing you hand your brain in at the front desk.
So bad it's good definitely applies, and the two sequels The Mangler spawned are basically more of the same. Minus the 'good' part.
