Ranking EVERY Version Of The Punisher From Worst To Best
5. Brian Bloom - Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher (2014)
When Frank Castle takes down a cartel of weapons dealers, little does he know he's stepping on a S.H.I.E.L.D operation. Apprehended by Black Widow and aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D carrier, he makes a deal with Nick Fury to help them take down Leviathan before they can auction off their super soldiers to the highest bidders.
The second in the Marvel/Madhouse anime films, Avengers Confidential is - like Iron Man before it - full on animation of the Japanese variety. Big guns, big fights and big... er... muscles(?) are the order of the day, and it delivers on all fronts.
Voiced by Brian Bloom, known for his work as Black Mask in Arkham Origins and "B.J." Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein, amongst many other things, this Punisher has a certain seriousness and gravitas about him that at times seems at odds with the action on screen. But overall, he does a damn fine job.
The only real complaint here is that even though it's not a cameo, as was the case with Norman Reedus before him, he is only a supporting actor in this play, with the main focus being on Black Widow and her now insane ex-lover, Elias.
If only Marvel/Madhouse had done one more movie together, maybe we'd have got a the full Punisher treatment.
