Ranking July 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
6. It Comes At Night
RottenTomatoes Score: 88% (7.4/10)
Box Office: Driven by strong reviews, the approximately $3 million thriller has grossed just over $17 million to date, though this was in fact slightly down on projections, with the film's disappointing Cinemascore of "D" likely causing poor word-of-mouth.
Still, not bad at all.
Verdict: A startling post-apocalyptic thriller from Krisha director Trey Edward Shults, It Comes at Night may disappoint those expecting a thrill-a-minute romp, but for more patient audiences, its subtle storytelling and restrained performances add up to an uncommonly smart genre effort.
With beautiful cinematography and scene after scene of gut-wrenching suspense, it's certainly a film that sticks with audiences, even if the trailers did somewhat misrepresent what the movie actually is.
