Ranking June 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

7. The Nightmare

RottenTomatoes Score: 70% (6.8/10) Box Office: Budgetary info isn't available, though the film is clearly made on the cheap, and given its rather quiet VOD release, there's not a lot to go on profit-wise either. The Verdict: Explaining sleep paralysis to those who haven't experienced it is a challenge, yet Room 237 director Rodney Ascher makes a suitably terrifying stab at it in this fascinatingly creepy documentary. Smartly interweaving talking head interviews with reconstructions of the participants' awful experiences battling the condition, The Nightmare presents a uniquely terrifying vision of a surprisingly common but rarely-discussed ailment. It could certainly have probed deeper into the root causes of the phenomenon, but at the same time, it captures the experiences of those involved with a disturbing efficiency.
