Ranking June 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

6. The Overnight

RottenTomatoes Score: 82% (7.2/10) Box Office: No budgetary info is available, but it's made $53,022 from 3 cinemas to date, which in terms of per-cinema averages isn't bad at all. Even a big expansion makes this one unlikely to do much business in the long run, though. The Verdict: The biggest weapon in this movie's repertoire is the element of surprise: just when you think you have it all pegged, it veers wildly off-course to up-end expectations. A sex comedy of a highly unique variety that's best left totally unspoiled, The Overnight mines brilliant emotional honesty out of its four central characters (played by Adam Scott, Taylor Schilling, Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche) as they confront the nature of their relationships over one evening. The performances are stellar, and at just 79 minutes in length, nobody's going to complain that it runs too long. A succinct, pithy, illuminating effort indeed.
