Ranking June 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

14. Free State Of Jones

Finding Dory Warcraft Central Intelligence Independence Day Resurgence
STX Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 40% (5.4/10)

Box Office: The war film cost a staggering $50 million to make and made just $7.8 million in its opening weekend, far below expectations and making this one a certifiable box office dud.

Verdict: Well, what a disappointment this was. Despite an all-star cast and crew, Free State of Jones is a stamina-drainingly dull effort whose 139 minute runtime is wildly unreasonable, diluting Matthew McConaughey's solid leading work in the process.

For a $50 million movie, this looks surprisingly cheap, with flat cinematography evoking the look and feel of a TV re-enactment for the History Channel. Probably best to save it for Netflix, so you can skip through some of the more laborious dialogues that drag the whole thing down.
