Ranking June 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

7. Sicario 2: Soldado

Sicario 2 Benicio Del Toro
Lionsgate

RottenTomatoes Score: 63% (6.4/10)

Box Office: The $45 million thriller sequel opened more than one-third higher in the U.S. than the original Sicario, and has already recouped roughly two-thirds of its price tag.

The first film went on to gross a solid $84.9 million, so expect this follow-up to make an admirable crawl past that figure before it's all said and done.

Verdict: Strong visuals and exceptional performances from Josh Brolin, Benicio del Toro and Isabela Moner elevate Taylor Sheridan's surprisingly sloppy script in this underwhelming yet viscerally entertaining follow-up.

Few sensible people would've been expecting it to measure up to Denis Villeneuve's taut original, though the impressive whole is nevertheless dragged down by some dubiously contrived scenarios and a damp squib of a third act.
