Ranking June 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

2. Hereditary

Hereditary Toni Collette
A24

RottenTomatoes Score: 89% (8.2/10)

Box Office: Impressively made for just $10 million, the indie horror flick soared above initial projections and scored the highest opening weekend ever for an A24-distributed movie.

Hereditary has just cracked $60 million worldwide, making it a sturdy minor success by any measure.

Verdict: Though no horror movie is done any favours by being compared to The Exorcist, Ari Aster's mind-boggling directorial debut is one of the few hyped-up festival horrors that actually lives up the hype.

Alternatively heartbreaking and horrifying, Hereditary is a psychological horror film anchored at all times by Toni Collette's Oscar-worthy performance, a suffocating level of atmosphere and a blisteringly intense third act that'll leave you utterly shell-shocked.

If this one doesn't land a Best Picture Oscar nod, it'll be an absolute crime.
