Ranking May 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
10. The Ones Below
RottenTomatoes Score: 72% (6.0/10)
Box Office: Even accepting its low budget, the movie's current $35,654 worldwide cume won't be making it a success.
Verdict: The "pregnancy thriller" is pretty much a genre in its own right these days, and while this effort doesn't exactly do much new with the concept, it's still an elegantly-constructed, cannily-acted and tense slice of something approaching Hitchcock.
As much as writer-director David Farr tries to field out the surprises, you may well see them coming, but it's still easy to get invested in the ride because the film looks fantastic and the actors completely throw themselves into their challenging roles.
Nothing Earth-shattering, but an efficient, effective genre exercise all the same. Perfect for Netflix or a home rental.
