Ranking May 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

15. Life Of The Party

Life Of The Party Melissa McCarthy
Warner Bros.

RottenTomatoes Score: 38% (5.0/10)

Box Office: The $30 million Melissa McCarthy comedy opened slightly below projections, making it the lowest solo-starring opening of her career. Having just crossed the $50 million mark, it's going to struggle to even double its budget at the box office.

Verdict: A lukewarm attempt to reinvent the Old School formula for a new generation, Life of the Party strands Melissa McCarthy in a tediously inoffensive studio comedy that does little for her or really anyone else involved.

Maya Rudolph steals every scene she's in and there's a pretty surprising plot twist, but for the most part this is just lazy, low-effort slop.
