Ranking The Rock's Films From Worst To Best

7. So-So Caper Films

Now we come to the movies that are perfectly watchable, yet don't exactly stick in the brain once the credits roll. I am talking firstly about Be Cool, the sequel to the snazzy 90s movie satire Get Shorty, in which Johnson plays a gay Samoan bodyguard, and serves as the film's best slice of comic relief. Though the film generally received mixed to negative reviews, Johnson's performance was frequently foregrounded by even those who didn't like it as one of the bright spots. Get Smart, on the other hand, is an enjoyable if frothy action comedy, in which Johnson plays Agent 23, the insanely good looking, strong, charming agent that Steve Carell's character looks up to. He doesn't figure hugely into the plot until the end, but he's amiable enough, and it demonstrated he had what it takes to play opposite the big comic lions of cinema like Carell.
