Ranking The Rock's Films From Worst To Best

5. Welcome To The Jungle (2003)

This is the exact point at which The Rock began to earn comparisons to Arnold Schwarzenegger, kickstarted by a scene early on in Welcome to the Jungle (aka The Rundown), in which Arnie cameos and says to Rocky, "Have fun", a light hearted passing of the torch from one action star to another. Welcome to the Jungle is probably one of the more underrated and under-appreciated films in The Rock's filmography, because it's a whole lot of fun thanks to the relaxed chemistry between Rocky and Stifler himself; Seann William Scott. Yet somehow tanked at the box office, in spite of strong reviews from critics. Had the film been a success, it would have been ripe for a sequel, one that most involved with it were keen for, yet due to it flopping, that's never going to happen. Still, if it didn't exactly show confidence in Rock's box office stature, it importantly made it clear that the guy's screen presence is tailor-made for the action adventure arena. I would love to see him in a Shane Black film, for example.
