Ranking Seth MacFarlane's Properties From Worst To Best
1. American Dad
In a purely like-for-like, pistols at dawn-style duel, American Dad should always emerge as the victor in the battle for MacFarlane's best.
The two are obviously very close siblings, built on the exact same genetic material and a lot of the same comic dynamics. But in its more overtly political material, and its slightly more intelligent-seeming agendas, American Dad feels more grown-up and braver, like its agenda is more subtle and less silly.
And frankly, the characters might not be as immediately quotable as their Quahog counterparts , but they're more legitimately likeable and their storylines ring far more true. The farcical approach to comedy also works beautifully, as it does for Family Guy, but there's a more extreme commitment to gallows humour facilitated not only by Stan's job, but also by his very obvious mental instability (which will always be more compelling than Peter Griffin's stupidity).
And in the battle of the most outrageous characters, Roger the alien has proved himself to have longevity and more dimensions than Stuey.
